The presentation outlines American agricultural development; presents facts about the scope of U.S. and California agriculture, and details the industrialization of agriculture. The general rule with major trends is that a small, counter-trend simultaneously exists. This is the case with the industrialization of agriculture as well. Certain examples of the corresponding counter trend will be discussed including organic agriculture, biodynamic agriculture, consumer supported agriculture (CSA), and eating locally.
