Concern over climate change, energy security, drought and other environmental pressures has generated a tremendous economic opportunity for technologies to help address these pressing issues.  Los Angeles is uniquely poised to leverage its leading environmental policies and city-owned assets like the nation's largest port complex, the nation's largest municipal utility, and one the country's busiest airports to spur innovations in clean technology.  Additionally, the City government, top research universities and progressive business groups have formed CleanTech LA, a collaboration dedicated to make Los Angeles a global leader in the research, production, and deployment of clean technology.  The green sector will be a major source of economic growth in coming decades, and Mayor Villaraigosa's office is making a major push to create new high quality green jobs in Los Angeles.
