Ileene Anderson directs conservation projects and coordinates campaigns throughout the southwest deserts, while focusing on conservation projects in the deserts and urban wildlands of Southern California. She actively works to protect rare and endangered species and their habitats throughout southern California, which is a globally recognized biodiversity hotspot. Her work involves a variety of issues, from field work and research, to commenting on environmental review documents, giving public comments and programs, and working with regulators and on legislation.

Ileene’s talk will focus, briefly, about the uniqueness of southern California’s biodiversity, to set the stage for an overview of the challenges that are currently occurring to the landscape of southern California. Case studies will include – Habitat Conservation Plans and renewable energy.
