Mission

Visit the Center for Corporate Environmental Performance

The mission of the UCLA Center for Corporate Environmental Performance (CCEP) is to improve the measurement and communication of environmental performance of organizations and products. Through cross-disciplinary research, educational programs, and ground-breaking collaboration with organizations that are committed to improving their performance, CCEP will help reduce the negative externalities of business and conserve resources for a sustainable future.

CCEP focuses on developing quantitative measures of firm and product "greenness". These measures provide a benchmark to compare companies in the same industry at a point in time and to evaluate corporate environmental progress over time. The Center's researchers also investigate how consumers respond to information concerning the environmental impacts of various products.

CCEP helps to build bridges among corporations in Los Angeles and California that seek to enhance their environmental performance while remaining competitive.

A Critical Issue

California has long been a leader in environmental business and policy innovation. Now, with the passage of AB32, the state is at the epicenter of climate change regulation. How corporations respond will have an impact on worldwide efforts to address climate change. Skyrocketing energy costs, insurance risks, and public awareness of the importance of sustainability are also increasing the pressure on companies to report their environmental performance. CCEP helps corporations by providing crucial measurement tools and analysis and facilitating communication of best practices.
